This past year, I worked with Jeremiah Nordholt: a talented illustrator from Kent State University.
I shared unfinished stroyboards with him from 2015, and two characters that he chose to flesh out were Ben and Martin.
“Two dynamically opposed brothers bond while investigating the mysteries written within their grandfather’s diary.”
Ben and Martin was a concept that paid homage to 1990s Nickelodeon: specifically Craig Bartlett’s Hey Arnold! Character designs are a nod toward Rocko’s Modern Life and The Angry Beavers. Story wise, it’s somewhat similar to Gravity Falls or Victor and Valentino.
The brothers are joined by Jen, who discover the nameless city they call home is within Pandora’s Box, and their grandfather’s desire to open it upon the world.
